Welcome to March Greatness! This is our Championship Season for us all. A lot of travel and hard work goes into keeping our athletes at the top of their game this time of year. Congratulations goes out to all the Central Coaches for all the hard work that you have put in this season. One of the really positive things that I have noticed as your Central Coaches Chair is how much cooperation is going on between teams and coaches reaching out to support each other across our different programs and areas within the Central Division. This will make us stronger as we move forward.

As coaches we will have an opportunity in April to increase our education with US Ski & Snowboard bringing a Level 200 and Course Setting Class to the Central Division at Granite Peak Ski Area. You can register on-line at: for the Level 200 (April 6th, 7th, & 8th) and the Course Setting Clinic is on Thursday, April 5th and you can registration on-line at:

We will be having the US Ski & Snowboard Central Division Skills & Thrills weekend for your athletes on April 7th & 8th at Granite Peak Ski Area. This will be the third year of having this event and it has grown each year with both more athletes and coaches attending. This will give our Central athletes an opportunity to continue skiing into April with the focus being on skill development. The US Ski & Snowboard Physical Assessment will be a part of this camp with the highlight being a Dual Panel Slalom on Sunday afternoon. US Ski & Snowboard Rocky/Central Youth Development Manager Anje Worrell will be leading this Camp and we need coaches to help assist with the on-hill coaching. Angie will be holding a Coaches Education Clinic on Saturday, April 7th in the evening to help coaches needing CEC credits. Our goal is to give our athletes throughout the Central Division opportunities to come together as ONE and train, develop new friendships and provide the best possible learning opportunities for all
our Central athletes. More information will be coming out in the next week or so. Please plan on attending with your athletes.

Coaches, please remember that your athletes that have qualified for the U14 & U16 Rocky/Central Junior Championships also have qualified for the US Ski Rocky/Central Skills Camp over Memorial Day Weekend at A-Basin, CO. Last year we had 10 athletes attend from Central, Seven from CR2, two from CR1 and one from CR3/4. This is a great opportunity for our Central athletes to ski for five days with their peers from Rocky. I hope we are able to fill our quota of 30 athletes this coming May 24th through May 28th. Questions should be directed toward our US Ski & Snowboard Central Manager Eric Cates.

There are still many opportunities for our athletes to compete in the Central Division. There will be the U14/U12/U10/U8 Central Division Brule Finale held at Ski Brule on March 17th & 18th. Ski Brule is also offering an additional Training Day Special for Friday, March 16th. Afton Alps will be holding the US Ski & Snowboard Central Division Championships on March 24th & 25th with the opportunity for the athletes to win a CAR. Both events are open to all Central Division athletes and are really a great time to celebrate the sport we love and keep our athletes training and skiing!

Finally, I plan on setting up “Listening” meetings in CR1, CR2 & CR3/4 this summer and early Fall to continue to work on bringing our athletes and coaches together to work on making Central Strong. I am planning on meeting with each of the Coaches Chairs from CR1, CR2 & CR3/4 to discuss when it works best for each area.

I hope to see all of the athletes, parents, and coaches in the Central Division continue to come together and support working together to make the Central Division STRONG!
