CENTRAL COACHES CHAIR DECEMBER 2018 MONTHLY NEWSLETTER
ATTENTION CENTRAL DIVISION RACERS & COACHES
Welcome Back to another Great Ski Racing Season! Many of you were out in Rocky for early season training and Colorado Thanksgiving Camps. The snow was incredible and the temperatures were perfect. Those that held their own Thanksgiving Camps back here in Central had great conditions also with plenty of great snowmaking weather.
We are holding a “PREPARE FOR THE NUBS” Event next weekend (December 7th & 8th) at Granite Peak Ski Area, hosted by the Granite Peak Ski Team. North Star Ski Racers will be here to train and we will have GS Blocks of training on Saturday (December 7th) from 9AM to 4PM and SL Blocks of training on Sunday (December 8th). Teams will work together during each day and will be able to have extended training with their own teams in the evenings from 4PM – 9PM if they so desire. Timing and video will all be available to visiting teams and the cost is the price of a Lift Ticket each day. This will be a great opportunity to come together and work on getting Stronger Together as a Central Division. Please reach out to me if you would like to bring your team and/or send some athletes.
I am hoping all of you will support the CR3 MID-AM Nubs Nob event starting Friday, December 14th with two Scored GS Races for U16’s and older. This will be followed by FIS SL races (U19 and older) and SL Scored races (U16 and older) on Saturday, December 15th and Sunday, December 16th (2 races each day, FIS & Scored). This event held in CR3 was one of the best “scoring” opportunity for our U16’s for the past few seasons. Anje Worrell (US R/C Youth Development Coordinator) will be holding a Skills Quest Event, along with a non-scored SL & GS races each day at the same time for our U14 and younger athletes. Please take advantage of this great opportunity we have in Central to become better as a Division.
The next GREAT opportunity for all athletes in the Central Division is the Central Giant Slalom Holiday Camp at Mt. Ripley (Hancock, MI). Mt. Ripley is one of our best GS hills in Central with a great training
“venue” and opportunity to work on GS Skill Development. This Central Division Camp will be headed up by Eric Cates (Central Division Manager) and our US R/C Youth Development Manager, Anje Worrell and will begin on Thursday, December 27th & Friday, December 28th with three (3) Giant Slalom races on Saturday, December 29th through Sunday, December 30th. Your athletes can register on “My Events” page on the US Ski and Snowboard website: www.usskiandsnowboard.org.
Coaches please check that your membership is not “PENDING” and up to date with US Ski and Snowboard. There still is a number of Central Coaches that need to make sure they have their membership “CURRENT”.
I hope to see all of the athletes, parents, and coaches in the Central Division come together and support working together to make the Central Division STRONG!
