ATTENTION CENTRAL DIVISION RACERS & COACHES
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Sorry about getting this out a little late in January. I know all of us have really been busy. We have just completed U.S. Ski Central Giant Slalom Ski Camp with U.S. Ski & Snowboard Central Manager, Eric Cates with excellent attendance and great snow conditions provided by Mt. Ripley. The athletes that attended got a great chance to work on their Giant Slalom skills. It was a great experience for our Central Athletes.
The next GREAT opportunity for all athletes in the Central Division is the Central Speed Camp at Indianhead Mountain (Wakefield, MI). Indianhead Mountain has provided us with a great training “venue” and opportunity to work on Speed Skill Development. This Central Division Camp will be headed up by Eric Cates and U.S. Ski & Snowboard Youth Development Director, Angie Worrell. The Camp will begin on Friday, February 1st with two days of Speed Skill Development and a Super-G Race on Sunday, February 3rd. You can register on My Events page on the US Ski and Snowboard website: usskiandsnowboard.org.
The Michigan Tech Mid-America FIS Series continues this week with two (2) USSA Giant Slalom races, Friday, January 11th which are part of the overall ranking of the Michigan Tech MIDAM Series and two (2) FIS MIDAM Slalom races on Saturday and Sunday, January 12th & 13th at Mont Ripley (Hancock, MI). There will be a training event for U16 athletes that stay for the weekend. They will be offered an opportunity to work on Skill Development with a coach on Saturday and Sunday.
The Rocky/Central U19 Qualifier for Slalom will be held at the Atmore Michigan Tech MIDAM (Duluth, MN) the first week in February 1-3. The FIS athletes will have the opportunity to race three (3) FIS Slaloms. Register your athletes at: https://usskiandsnowboard.org/sport-programs/regions-divisions/intents/central-division-intents . There will be limited quota spots for our Central athletes.
Finally, Mt. La Crosse and CR1 is Hosting a USSA and FIS races (One USSA & One FIS race each day), on Saturday and Sunday, January 26th & 27th. The USSA races are open to ALL Central Division athletes. The FIS races are part of the Dan Nagy Memorial Races. Please plan sending your athletes to this event, to support and race on this great venue. GREEN SHEETS for your athletes that will be attending these events to Eric Cates.
I hope to see all of the athletes, parents, and coaches in the Central Division come together and support working together to make the Central Division STRONG!
