The International Ski Federation known as FIS, is for athletes 16 years old and older as of December 31st. FIS racing offers a competitive environment for USSA Club athletes and independents to race against other FIS athletes across the USA and Canada, participate in a season long competition for the Carruther's Cup, and qualify for age appropriate upper level racing in Nor Ams, US National Championships, Rocky / Central U21 FIS Championships and International FIS Races.

Most Central Division FIS competitions, Michigan Tech Mid Am Series races, are held on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays during the ski season at ski areas across the Midwest. Some 4 day race formats may include a Thursday or a Monday during the school year, but every attempt is made to minimize these.

FIS racing requires a USSA Competition membership, a FIS membership, Registration in Central Division Region 2, and registration for each of the individual races. These costs can vary based on the location of the races. This information can be looked up on your MY.USSA.ORG in the athlete race registration section.

Out of Division Racing

U19 and older FIS racers can also qualify through the selection processes for additional out of division events such as out of division FIS racing, the Nor Am Series, and the U19 US National Jr. Championships.  See the USSA Central website for more information.
